Local economies are the economies that matter. Nothing can be accomplished on a large scale that cannot first be accomplished right here at home. And, some things should just not be done on the large scale. We believe that all people should have the right to access affordable, healthy, wholesome foods. And that the farmers, ranchers or producers that provide us these goods should be paid fairly for their hard work and the expenses incurred to do so. And we know that these two things together go a very long way toward strengthening and empowering our local community.
Our fresh produce was sourced almost exclusively from smaller, local farms in the spring and summer seasons and then bio-regionally in winter months (except for those pineapples and bananas we all love). All produce was organic and/or pesticide free! Pantry items and home goods were sourced through local producers first wherever possible and then through distribution channels that practice responsible and ethical business standards.
We actively chose to not support businesses or products that cause undue hardship on the environment, their employees, their producers, your health or our own consciousness.
Now, after having listened and learned more than we thought we could or hoped, all this that we worked on is starting a new life. Please keep in touch and come back to see what happens in the new year.
